SALES TERMS
Below
you will find terms and policies regarding the sale of our goats. In the
sincere hope of avoiding any misunderstandings, we ask that you review this
page thoroughly, and invite you to contact us if you have any questions. If a
tenant of a sale is not expressly addressed herein, we reserve the right to
establish said tenants or terms as we deem necessary.
OUR GOATS
All the goats on our farm are CAE,
Johnes, CL, TB, and Brucellosis negative. We annually test all goats on our
farm over the age of 6 months for CAE using the c-Elisa and/or the PCR testing
method. We also annually test for Johnes. Maryland has earned the designation
of being a TB & Brucellosis-free state. If your state of residence is also
designated as TB and Brucellosis-free, then your goat purchase(s) from our herd
may most likely enter your state without any TB or Brucellosis testing
required.
No member of our herd has ever had CL or
any contagious abscesses.
Our herd is routinely wormed using the
FAMACHA system and their hooves are regularly trimmed. We manage external
parasites via maintaining a clean environment for our herd as well as the
prudent use of CoRal Powder, Durasect Liquid and/or Diatomaceous Earth.
Everyone in our herd receives bi-annual copper boluses. Even under the best of
circumstances, occasionally goats get sick. No goat for sale will leave our
farm, unless in our best judgment, it is in excellent health, alert and
vigorous. If this means we have to postpone travel arrangements, pick up or
delivery plans, we will always choose to err on the side of caution and what is
in the goat's absolute best interests.
No sale is final until we release the
goat(s) from our care, custody and control.
We appreciate your understanding.
All our goats are up to date on all
vaccines and preventative care. Just before transport/pick up, we administer
Probiotics, Vitamin B Complex, wormer if needed, Power Punch or Nutridrench and
upon request can also provide a dose of antibiotic as a prophylactic. We also
perform a fecal exam to ensure there is no significant internal parasite load.
Your goat will be carefully and humanely disbudded (if not polled) and likely
will be scur-free. Your goat's hooves will be freshly trimmed before leaving as
well. While our goats are on our farm, in our control, custody and care, we are
fully responsible for the goat's health, physical, mental and emotional
condition. Once the goat leaves our farm, our responsibility ends.
Additionally, if purchasing a bred doe, once the doe leaves our farm and is no
longer under our care, custody and control, we are not responsible for
pregnancy loss, abortion, or fetal trauma due to transport or any other
reason.
As goat kids are born devoid of an immune
system, and as they initially inherit passive immunity from their dam via
collostrum and milk, we feel newborn goats should remain on their farm of birth
for a minimum of 8-10 weeks. This time interval allows for them to build a
solid immune system, which helps ensure health, vigor, growth and longevity. In
rare instances, we will entertain requests to release a goat kid
earlier than 8 weeks of age. When considering such requests, we will make the
decision on a case-by-case basis, and our decision will always reflect what is
in the best interest of the goat kid; our decision will be final and
non-negotiable.
We do not, and cannot guarantee the adult
size of the animals. However, our goal in breeding is to produce exceptional
outcomes that do conform to the height standard as set forth by AGS and ADGA
for the Nigerian Dwarf Breed. We do guarantee that every registered doe or buck
you purchase from us is fertile and capable of reproduction. Should your goat
prove to be infertile, and your veterinarian determines via examination and
testing that the condition is genetic in nature and not due to improper
nutrition/poor conditioning, or due to illness, injury, mineral deficiency, or any
other reason, we will replace your kid purchase with a kid from
what we have available for sale; we will replace your adult purchase
with an adult that is available for sale. The replacement will be of
similar quality/pedigree in our estimation and subject solely to our
discretion. We cannot guarantee that its appearance, eye or coat color and the
like will be identical; though we will try to provide as similar as is
available. Though we agree to provide a replacement in the event of
infertility, you will remain responsible for any and all transportation
expenses, as well as any other costs (Vet Certificate, crate, etc.) to return
the original, allegedly infertile goat to us (if requested) and to acquire the
replacement. Finally, a letter must be provided from your Veterinarian
certifying that the goat is genetically infertile and must
document the examination findings, testing results and the medical basis for
reaching this conclusion along with copies of said exam notes and testing
results. Said letter will be submitted to our Veterinarian for review and if
he/she concurs based upon all documentation and supports for the claim of
infertility- the purchase will be replaced as enumerated above.
When you purchase a goat kid from us, you
are purchasing a genetic package created by the pairing of the sire and the
dam. We devote considerable time and research into our decision-making when
creating our breeding schedule. The ultimate goal is to utilize the exceptional
genetics at our disposal in our herd to create outcomes that meet or exceed the
quality of the kids' dams and sires. Goat breeding, however, is more of an art
that an exact science, and outcomes are never guaranteed. Anecdotally, more
than 70% of a goat kid's potential is influenced by their environment. As a
breeder, we can recommend to our customers proper goat keeping protocols,
provide information on goat nutrition, and suggest practical tips for raising
their purchase-- but we cannot guarantee how their purchase will mature since
we cannot control the environment in which they are raised. What we can do is
share information and educate you as our customer about your kid purchase's
bloodline and pedigree and the performance and accomplishments of your kid's
ancestors.
When purchasing an adult doe from us, we
can provide all available information about her individual performance
(official or unofficial milk production, show experience, kidding history,
etc.) as well as her pedigree and the accomplishments of her produce.
Likewise, when purchasing an adult buck
from us, we can provide all available information about his individual
performance (show experience, etc.) as well as official or unofficial milk
production of his daughters, his pedigree and the accomplishments of his
get.
All sales are final and there are no
refunds.
Buyer is responsible for the costs of
Certificate(s) of Veterinary Inspection ($45.00- our cost) (and whatever travel
papers required to deliver/receive a goat into your state), cost of shipping
crate, and airline or over-the-road transportation costs. Shipping crates can
be (1) purchased by you and shipped to us, (2) purchased by you through an
online catalogue, billed to you and shipped to us, or (3) we can purchase one
on your behalf locally (prepayment required).
We can provide you with our most current CAE (c-Elisa or PCR) and Johnes
testing results for your purchase(s) or for the dam and/or sire of your
purchase(s) free of charge. We also will test at your request and at our
expense any potential purchase over the age of 6 months of age before it leaves
our farm.
If purchasing a bred doe from us, and you
wish to confirm her settled status, we will gladly draw blood free of charge at
or after the 30 day mark after breeding, waive the cost of the testing supplies
(syringe, needles, collection tubes, ice gel packs for shipping). We will
submit the sample to BioTracking/Biopryn Labs. (A Biopryn blood pregnancy test
for goats costs $7.50 + cost of shipping the sample (prepayment required before
blood is drawn).
DEPOSITS/RESERVATIONS
We always reserve the right to retain any
and all kids in our herd though each year, we exercise that right sparingly and
only retain an average of 2%-5% of our annual kid crop. We have never
failed to honor a reservation when the outcome reserved has been produced, and never
negated a reservation in order to elect to exercise our right to retain. So
place a reservation with confidence and know that so long as the anticipated
outcome is born, your reservation will be fulfilled.
When viewing our Breeding/Kidding
Schedule, all prices listed are for RESERVED kids in advance of their
birth. By reserving a kid in advance of its birth you will receive a discount
of at least $50-$100 off of the kid's price once it is born. (Example: The
Kidding Schedule lists an as yet unborn doeling for $350. If reserved in
advance of her birth, and once a deposit has been placed for that reservation,
her price is locked in at the discounted price of $350. After kidding, her
price will generally rise, depending upon conformation, appearance and other
factors.) If multiple kid reservations are made by a customer in advance of
kidding, the multiple kid discounts will apply. Once kids are born,
pricing is based upon market forces, pedigree, dam’s udder, kid's conformation
and kid's appearance.
A conditional non-refundable deposit* of
$100.00 is required to place a reservation on any doeling, buckling or adult
goat. A conditional non-refundable deposit* of $50.00 is required to place a
reservation on any wether. We accept cash,
personal/business/certified/cashier's check, as well as credit and debit cards
for deposits and payments. (Credit and Debit card payments can only be accepted
via PayPal. We are PAYPAL VERIFIED. Please do not send any funds via PayPal
until you have communicated with us in advance. All PayPal transactions will be
subject to the 3.5% transaction fee at Payer's expense.) Payment for goats is
due in full prior to goat being released to customer. In person farm pick up of
your goat purchase will require cash payment for any funds due.
Upon receipt of a reservation, we will
note said reservation on our Kidding/Breeding Schedule as well as confirm the
reservation via email. Once a reservation has been placed, we require the
deposit be received within 7 business days. If the deposit is not received in
this time frame, or if the deposit is made via check and funds are not
available to honor the check, the reservation is null and void. Any returned
checks for NSF (Non Sufficient Funds) will be subject to a $35.00 bank fee in
addition to twice the face value of the check (per Maryland State Law), and the
item will be forwarded to a collection agency/attorney without delay.
In the event that the reserved kid is not
born, (including but not limited to: doe did not settle, doe lost
pregnancy/suffered spontaneous abortion, doe died prior to kidding, doe and/or
produce died during kidding, reserved kid was still born, reserved kid died
after kidding, gender of reserved kid was not produced, or herd owners
exercised the right to retain, thus not making the reserved kid available)
customer will be offered the right to ONE of the following remedies:
1) Buyer may
transfer the reservation/deposit to another breeding of an unborn kid, subject
to the availability of reservations on that breeding (if for instance there are
already 2 reservations on the same desired outcome on the second choice
breeding-- the transfer would be to the 3rd place in line on the second choice
breeding, not first in line.)
2) Buyer may
transfer the reservation/deposit to any other unreserved kid for sale already
on the ground (regardless of gender), or any adult listed for sale and
available on our website's Goats For Sale Page;
3) *Buyer may
request in writing a refund of the deposit on the reservation for the
unfulfilled breeding outcome- this is the sole exemption granted under the
conditional non-refundable deposit/reservation policy. (Please allow 7-10
business days for refund. Refunds will be remitted for deposits only, no PayPal
transaction fees. Refunds will be returned via postage paid USPS First Class
Mail and be in the form of either a personal or business check.)
DOWN PAYMENTS
Once our does have freshened, and once
all buyers with reservations have either made their purchases or declined to do
so, remaining kids will be offered up for sale and advertised through our web
site, on-line classifieds, and through local and regional print advertising.
Prospective buyers at this time may reserve a kid by placing a down payment of
50% of the kid’s price. We will release the kid to the buyer at 8-12 weeks of
age at which time the balance owed is due in full. If the balance is not paid
at 12 weeks, the buyer will forfeit the 50% down payment and we will place the
kid up for sale unless other arrangements have been mutually agreed upon in
advance in writing.
Once a pick-up/delivery/transport date
has been agreed upon for your goat kid purchase(s) and/or for your adult goat
purchase(s)- if Buyer delays the pick-up, delivery, or transport for any
reason, a boarding fee of $2.50 per day (per goat kid) will accrue until the
kid is picked up, delivered, or transported. For adult goat stock, the daily
boarding fee is $4.00 per day (per goat). If the adult is a lactating doe, and
buyer wishes us to milk her to keep her in full production until pick-up,
delivery or transport, the daily boarding fee is $6.00 per day (per milker). We
reserve the right to determine when a goat may leave our farm.

local delivery, transport a kid/adult to a show we are attending for free, or
to meet you along your travel route for a nominal fuel charge. Otherwise,
should you need to transport your kid via major airline, we are approximately
1.5 hours from Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI) and we will
gladly transport your kid to the airport for $35.00 (to cover fuel and tolls).
If you will be using an over-the-road livestock carrier, please provide the
carrier's itinerary and contact information to us well in advance of the
anticipated pick up date, so that we can ensure our availability and coordinate
the transfer.
